Limits and known gaps
What Beam does not do, and what the code cannot tell us.
Not in Beam 0.1.0
- No extension store or extension API.
- No cloud sync, accounts, or team features.
- No Hyper Key, Auto Quit, Quick Look or OCR.
- No settings export. Raycast import covers quicklinks and snippets only.
- File search matches names, not contents.
- The clipboard database is not encrypted.
- Snippets have no tags.
Depends on your Mac
- Apple Intelligence needs macOS 26 and an eligible Mac.
- Liquid Glass needs macOS 26.
- Window thumbnails, AI screenshots and the Command-Tab replacement need their permissions.
- Fn dictation needs the globe key set to Do Nothing.
Not confirmed from the code
- Which languages Apple dictation handles fully on-device. Beam asks for on-device recognition when supported.
- Where Settings shows the numeric ID of a command. A code comment says Settings → Commands shows it, but no place that displays it was found. The Deep links page shows how to read the IDs from the database.
- Emoji skin tone selection. A comment mentions it. No feature was found.
